Our reception team will guide you to the most appropriate type of appointment. Here is some information about the services we offer.

First Contact Practitioners

Musculoskeletal First Contact Practitioners are now working within your GP practice. They are clinicians whose expertise is in dealing with bone, joint or muscle pains.

  • You can book an appointment with them directly through your GP reception staff without needing to see your GP first.
  • They have the knowledge and ability to assess you and diagnose what’s happening.
  • They can advise on how to best manage your condition and refer you onto specialist services if necessary.

Focused care

You may be offered an appointment with our Focused Care Practitioner. Our practitioner can help with a wide range of concerns and challenges that a GP or nurse is not trained in. They can also connect you to the help you may need from other services in the area.

Focused Care is offered in GP practices across Greater Manchester.

Health information

If you have a long-term condition, this will need monitoring by your practice team. You might be invited in for an annual review, and sometimes for check-ups in between.

Some conditions that need annual reviews are:

  • Asthma
  • COPD
  • Heart disease
  • High blood Pressure
  • Diabetes
  • Struggling with mental health
  • Recovering from a stroke
In these appointments, we might check that your medication is still appropriate for you, and still the best treatment available. We might also ask you questions about your lifestyle and give you advice about how to keep your condition under control.

Minor Surgery

Our surgery provides a Minor Surgery clinic. This is a referral service after being seen by the GP for conditions including removal of cysts or skin tags and the administration of steroid injections of joints and soft tissues.

Non-NHS Services

Some services provided are not covered under our contract with the NHS and therefore attract charges.

Examples include but are not limited to the following:

  • Medicals for pre-employment and driving requirements (HGV and Taxi Medicals)
  • Insurance Claims Forms ( including holiday cancellations)
  • GP Letter requests

The fees charged are based on the British Medical Association (BMA) suggested scales and our Reception Staff will be happy to advise you about them along with appointment availability.

The minimum fee for a private letter or form is £25. This fee is dependant on the amount of information provided.

Anything that is needed urgently, within a month, will incur a minimum £50 charge.

The time scale for completion is 28 working days from receipt of the request and payment in full. Your request will not be passed on to the GP until all information and fees have been recieved.

Travel Vaccinations

If you're planning to travel outside the UK, you may need to be vaccinated against some of the serious diseases found in other parts of the world.

Our practice nurses are available by appointment to offer medical advice regarding travel and vaccinations where appropriate.

We will require a minimum of 6-8 weeks notice before your vaccination booking. We require this time to enable us to check your record and to order the relevant vaccinations as these are not items, we routinely stock. Please bear in mind you will also need an appointment with the practice nurse to administer the vaccination so prior notice is essential for us to facilitate this.

When you contact reception regarding your travel we will send you a form to complete via text message which, once you complete and return via text, will go to the nurses.  They will then let you know which, if any, vaccinations you need.
