Pride Month

Pride Month is an opportunity to raise awareness of the experiences and health needs of LGBTQ+ individuals and to promote equality in healthcare.

While significant progress has been made, many LGBTQ+ people continue to face barriers when accessing healthcare and may experience poorer health outcomes in some areas.

Creating inclusive healthcare environments helps ensure that everyone feels comfortable seeking support when they need it.

Looking After Your Health

Everyone deserves access to high-quality healthcare and support.

We encourage all patients to:

  • Attend routine health checks
  • Participate in screening programmes when invited
  • Access mental health support when needed
  • Seek medical advice for any ongoing symptoms or concerns
  • Keep vaccinations up to date
  • Discuss any health concerns openly with a healthcare professional

Mental Health and Wellbeing

LGBTQ+ individuals can experience higher rates of:

  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Social isolation
  • Stress related to discrimination or stigma

Support is available, and no one should feel they have to manage these challenges alone.

If you are struggling with your mental wellbeing, please contact the practice to discuss the support available.

Screening and Preventative Healthcare

Screening invitations are generally based on age, sex recorded in medical records, and individual risk factors.

It is important to attend any screening appointments you are eligible for, including:

  • Cervical screening
  • Breast screening
  • Bowel cancer screening
  • NHS Health Checks

If you are unsure which screening programmes apply to you, please speak to a member of our team.

Creating an Inclusive Practice

We aim to provide a welcoming environment where all patients are treated with dignity, respect, and confidentiality.

Our team is committed to:

  • Providing person-centred care
  • Respecting patients' identities and preferences
  • Promoting equality and inclusion
  • Supporting the health and wellbeing of all members of our community

This Pride Month, we celebrate diversity, support inclusion, and reaffirm our commitment to providing compassionate healthcare for everyone.
